Hey all. I'm going through something really frustrating with Sims 4 right now.
Yesterday I noticed that whenever I click on my sims or any other objects, nothing would pop up. I thought it was an issue with my mods, so I removed them all as a test and tried to reboot my game.
When I opened the game again, I got an error saying that i had an unrecognized video card. And all of my save files were gone... almost 2000 hours worth of gameplay.
I opened up my Config.log, and here is the info I got.
=== Graphics device info ===
Number: 0
Name (driver): Apple M2
Name (database): [Found: 0, Supported: 1]
Vendor: Apple
Chipset: Vendor: 106b, Device: 0000, Board: 00000000, Chipset: 0000
Driver: macOS Metal driver, Version: 0.0.0.0
Driver version: 0
Monitor: FD626D62
Texture memory: 10922MB
Vertex program: 3.0
Pixel program: 3.0
Hardware TnL: 0
Opt. features: -d24s8
I tried manually adding in graphics cards to the ConfigOverride folder, but I don't think anything matches my mac's Apple vendor. I also tried repairing the game, resetting origin, adding in lines of code with TextEdit, reinstalling the sims 4, taking out the sims 4 folder from the electronic arts folder to force it to make a new one, restarted my laptop, updated my laptop, so many things... I've looked through all forums and can't find anything that works.
I never post on forums so I'm really desperate here. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
The unrecognised video card error would not have caused your loss of files. Have you checked your iCloud? https://answers.ea.com/t5/Mac/READ-FIRST-Saves-CC-Mods-or-Library-items-disappeared-iCloud/m-p/10242133#M45493
For the error message, please post a screenshot of the lines you added in the .sgr file. Apple is the Vendor. You have an M2 chip which is covered in the opening post.

Yes, I synced my iCloud drive and still nothing.
Here's a screenshot, I added in the very last line before "end"

What is your specific M2 chip? Perhaps you have a Pro or a Max.
Syncing iCloud can actually cause more issues, all explained in the thread I linked.- 2 years ago
I have a macbook air, and oops I did not know that syncing could make it worse. I saw some articles saying that would fix it so thats what I tried to do. When I check my macbook information it just says Apple M2.
