Here you go! I recently changed lighting to "high" because i thought maybe that was the problem
Thanks! Could you turn up Visual Distance and Lighting and see if it helps? Do you have laptop mode enabled? Just scroll down a bit further in those options to check.

I'll try that and report back! — I saw laptop mode mentioned on other threads about this issue but I'm not sure where that is or where to access it?

Oh right yeah I had already turned up lighting, it didn't make a difference

Okay I found laptop mode! But yeah so I did that and... no change.
Laptop mode wasn't enabled, but enabling it didn't change anything.

also now that i've started adding furniture / appliances — it's all dark blue/grey no matter what the lighting is that I place it around

Are you sure it isn't the time of day? If you change to afternoon does it look better?
If you don't close off a room properly, or make sure the ceiling is completely covered that also casts a blueish light in the room.
