bbq pit in Sulani keeps making "poor" food

My "feasts" made on the Volcanic BBQ Searer from Island Living keeps resulting in "poor" food. I've tried 3 different Sims on 2 different lots. I've tried all the different recipes. One Sim had 10 level cooking skill - for that Sim there was a new chicken recipe on the bbq noting skill level 10 - it came out "poor" also. Tried checking "fresh" ingredients and with the check off. Had "Chef" on the lot traits. All cooking was with good moods. So try after try I still get "poor" results.

Any idea what is wrong?

    Tried 2 tips: Changed trait of main cook to "child of the islands". Bought new bbq searer. Main cook then got "normal" results. Still should be better than just normal.

    Update: New information - my Sims (at different cooking levels and different traits) can make "excellent" food with the BBQ searer on  the Admiral's Wreckage lot which I have made a Park. However on residential lots I get only "poor" or "normal" food. Is that the problem? The searer does not work well on residential lot?

    The BBQ searer apparently only makes "excellent" food when on a Park lot. My experiments with the BBQ on residential or beach lots turn out "poor" or "normal". The Sims have had differing cooking skills and traits. The difference seems to be the lot - so a fix is requested for the BBQ searer to make better food on various lots.
