Can’t launch the game

I updated the game without realising it was a big update and didn’t remove my mods folder beforehand and now every time I try to launch the game it pops up with an error message saying it’s unable to...

    @Jadaw_4  Please set an exception in your antivirus, or Controlled Folder Access if you only use Windows Defender, for TS4_DX9_x64.exe.  This is the game's new executable post-patch, and security software may be blocking it.

    @ladykyera999 and @sims4h2d5  Please describe what happens when you try to play, including a screenshot of any error message or other oddity.  And if you have any files in ConfigOverride, inside Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, please remove them.

Hi, I just experience this issue by now. Same as you. ( 1 )

I already try these step :

#1 I "clean" my save and mods out, and launch again, still have this issue.

#2 Try to uninstall the game and re-install, still have issue as first step.

I still need anyway for fix this issue or else please update new patch for this.



---FIXED UPDATE---

As I try to search for more information. There's a thing call Ransomware Protection if you are using Windows Defender.

as @puzzlezaddict said; you have to add TS_DX9_x64.exe into the exception so the game would be run as well.

 

pic : you have to open this window for going to add exception.


After you done this, issue is fixed.

I tried making an exception to the .exe file but had an error come up (see attached).

    @ladykyera999  Does your current user account, as in, what you sign into when you start your computer, have admin rights?  You can check under Users & Groups.  And please let me know what antivirus you use, and whether this computer is provided by your work or school and might have some extra security settings.

      It says I'm the administrator but I don't know if I have admin rights. I have attached a picture of it saying my admin status. I use Malwarebytes for malware protection.

        @ladykyera999  Did you try adding an exception in Windows Defender, or in Malwarebytes?  The latter might be more effective, if you see the option.  Otherwise, try changing this setting in Malwarebytes:

        The discussion is a bit old, so the page might not look the same, and the option might be named a bit differently.  But it's apparently a common issue when running Malwarebytes.

        You could also temporarily uninstall Malwarebytes to see whether it helps.  As long as you don't do anything else while testing Sims 4, your computer should be safe.

      @puzzlezaddict Its my own computer, I have a school account on it but it wasn't provided by work or school.
