Can a rtx 3070 graphics card run sims 4 on ultra if I get a 4K gaming monitor?

Im currently using a 24 inch 1080p gaming monitor and I’m wanting to upgrade to a 27 inch 4K one. But my graphics card is only rtx 3070. Is it possible to run sims 4 on ultra? If not, what graphics settings can I play it in if I were to switch to 4K?

  • @Pinkvelvet98  You should be able to play on ultra graphics settings without issues.  The question is how high your in-game framerates would be.  The problem is not the RTX 3070 here but rather the fact that Sims 4 doesn't use all the GPU's power, and the question there is how much more power would Sims 4 use if called for.

Rather than guess though, I'd suggest you experiment with your current setup.  The Nvidia Control Panel has a setting called Dynamic Super Resolution that allows the GPU to render an application at a higher resolution than your monitor supports.  The setting is under Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > [executable of program].  Setting DSR to 4x while using a 1080p monitor means the GPU would render that app at 4k.  So try that and see what the results are like, then decide whether it's worth upgrading to a 4k monitor with this setup.

I would suggest trying Sims 4 in both DirectX 9 and 11 modes, since 11 is the future of the game but also not fully optimized yet.  The executables are TS4_DX9_x64.exe and TS4_x64.exe, respectively, and you'd of course need to enable DSR for each one separately.
