Can I play the sims 4 deluxe edition on my laptop

Hello, I purchased the new cottage living pack and a few others to play but despite them being downloaded I am unable to play the newer packs. I am wondering if there is something I can do to fix this problem or if it is just my laptop. I have the cheaper version of the Microsoft surface pro x, I purchased it a few years ago so it is still pretty new. I was looking into the problem and found out I can't run the new packs on the legacy edition of sims but it tells me I need to download the legacy edition to play sims. I also found that there is a way to change the bits in order to run the deluxe version but I do not see the option in the advanced launch options tab. I also cleaned the cache, updated the game, repaired the game and uninstalled and reinstalled origin and the sims game and packs. Not sure if there is something else I can do but I would hate to give up and get a refund when I could be playing a fun game. Please let me know what I can do.

Unfortunately it looks like this can only run the Legacy version. It has a modified ARM processor that is not very powerful.

  • Thanks for letting me know! I’m planing on buying a desktop soon would the iMacs be able to play the new packs? No point in buying a computer that can’t do everything I want.

@Anastacia510 windows and macs different commputer systems and the hardware is different for windows you will have to buy sims 4 and it packs for windows pc and for mac you have to buy sims 4 and packs for mac. also apple make macs while microsoft makes windows. yes macs would play sims 4 but i got be sims 4 mac including it packs for macs. also windows 11 will be coming out and macOS 12 Monterey for macs. if you wait this fall when the newer os comes out

@Anastacia510  A current iMac, either one with an M1 chip or one of the slightly older 27" models with an Intel CPU, should run Sims 4 on high if not ultra graphics settings, all packs included.  You may want to wait until the new Apple chip comes out, which will hopefully be in November—these chips are rumored to be more powerful than the M1 by a significant margin.

When you own Sims 4 in Origin, you have the ability to download both the Windows and Mac versions of Sims 4.

@sim31984  You do NOT need to purchase the Mac version of Sims 4 separately, either the base game or any packs.  And there's no reason to wait until a new operating system is released: Macs and Windows PCs with current hardware will both easily support macOS Monterey and Windows 11 when they're released.
