cannot load sims to properties after Lovestruck update and oopsie patch

And just to be clear here, I have AVG antivirus and Windows Defender, am on a laptop Windows 11. Although no issues with the "lovestruck" patch, and was able to play the game yesterday. However, the emergency patch does not seem to have been downloaded although the little irritating sim showed up. Any suggestions?  Been playing since 2014. Now I can't.
