Cannot Save the Game after Changing Sim's Hair in CAS

Hello! I am having an error in CAS specifically when it comes to changing any sim's hair. 

Here are some details about my game/computer, etc: 

• Playing on PC through Origin, game is completely up to date.
• Expansions:  Get to Work, Get Together, Get Famous, Cats and Dogs, Seasons, City Living
• Game Packs: Dine Out, Jungle Adventure, Outdoor Retreat, Parenthood, Spa Day, Vampires
• Stuff Packs: Backyard Stuff, Cool Kitchen Stuff, Laundry Day Stuff, Luxury Party Stuff, Perfect Patio Stuff, Vintage Glamour Stuff
• I have MCCC but there are no last exceptions pulled, nor regular game logs pulled as an error. When I try to save it will say "Game is not in a state that allows saving.", or it will just get stuck forever saving. I've left this going for over an hour before and it doesn't crash, the loading symbol keeps spinning. 
• I have a lot of custom content, as well as script mods; all script mods are up to date after the latest python update, and the only type of CC that is causing this error is in the hair category. I have at least narrowed it down to my "hair" folder in my mods. 
• I have weeded through my mods bit by bit to narrow down where the issue was coming from. I also went through all the hairs using S4S to make sure they show up in there (they also all show up in the game when I click on them). There are no missing meshes. I cleared all cache files that are okay to clear, and also did a factory reset twice. Modded content is enabled in my game, and there are no visual issues. I used S4S on the hairs when I wanted them to be usable for Vampires and Aliens. 

This issue with being unable to save will happen regardless of whether or not I click on alpha hairs or Maxis hairs. As soon as I select any hair other than what the Sim already has (Sim from an older save or initial sim in CAS), their portrait in the bottom left of CAS will forever show that it's refreshing/reloading. If I leave CAS at that point and try to save, it will say that it's not in a state that allows saving. Sometimes if I hit undo and it goes back to the original hair the portrait will appear again, but it's already doomed and I won't be able to save. 

I'm hoping someone will have ideas on what else to try. Does this sound like a CC error, an issue with the hairs, or maybe a save file error, like it's corrupt? If more details are needed I'd be happy to share them. Thank you!
