Can't move camera with mouse or mousepad
Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Rarely (0% - 9%)
What is your current game version number? I don't know, I downloaded it early March
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Cats & Dogs, Get To Work, Vampires
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? You can't...? It's on my computer...
What happens when the bug occurs? The camera is frozen in place. I can zoom in and out with the keyboard, but I can't move it with the mouse/ mousepad.
What do you expect to see? I often click somewhere on the lot, and "pull" the camera in this direction, to get a better look (I sometimes play without a mouse, and either way I find this much faster than using arrow keys to inch my way towards the desired spot), and while it worked when I opened the game, mid-building it suddenly stopped working.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No
I have played the game for a few weeks and had no issue, I started playing it today, and was changing a lot in build mode. All of a sudden the camera is frozen in place. I often click somewhere on the lot, and "pull" the camera in this direction, to get a better look (I sometimes play without a mouse, and either way I find this much faster than using arrow keys to inch my way towards the desired spot).
Now, for whatever reason, this is no longer possible, and it completely ruins the game for me. I tried jumping to another lot, and I tried exiting and re-entering the game, but the issue persist. I looked online to see if others had the same issue, but could not find an answer.
Why can I not move the camera around using mouse/ mousepad? Is it a bug, or might I have accidentally hit some command key?
@Rinchan89 Please try switching back and forth between the Sims 3 and Sims 4 cameras; you can choose between them by clicking on the camera icon in the upper right corner of the screen. Quit, restart your computer, and reload the game in between.
If that doesn't help, try moving options.ini, in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4, to the desktop. This will reset all your in-game options, but if you don't want to redo them all and this step doesn't help, you can delete the new options.ini and put the old one back.
