The same thing happened to me. I used the internet to activate the game played for hours and hours, now my roommates have shut off the internet and I went to play. Could log into origin but couldn't play the game, said it needed to be activated online and I have already done that. Why can't I play without the internet? This is so frustrating...
I also had the same problem & the same initial frustration, but after a few tries I also realized I had to log into my origin account, go to the "my games" menu & click on the game there to get it to launch ... which took a few moments to do so, but after a few minutes, it did finally work & haven't had a problem again so far. I believe the first time or two, I only put my pc to sleep after closing out the game, instead of restarting it. Since then and after playing it a couple of times that way, I restarted my pc again, and haven't had the issue since that time.
