Can't repeal previous global policy from sim who died

Product: The Sims 4
Platform: PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Unsure, as I didn't need to repeal the previous global policy until now.
What is your current game version number? 1.63.136.1010
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All of them.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves?
1. Have the first sim go into the conservationist career and consult on a global policy.

2. After officially implementing it, have the first sim die.

3. Get a second sim, have them go into the conservationist career.

4. See if they are allowed to repeal the previous sim's global policy.
What happens when the bug occurs? I cannot repeal a previous global policy (Green Energy Rebate) that my Generation 1 sim enacted. I'm on Generation 6 now and have one of my sims in the same career/track, but they can only consult/repeal new ones or the ones that they've already enacted. In the list of potential policies I can consult or repeal, the option to repeal the Generation 1 Sim's global policy is also not shown, therefore not giving me a choice. The policy is nowhere to be found on the menus.

What do you expect to see? The option to repeal the global policy that my Gen 1 enacted.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes but I have them all updated/compatible with this patch.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Not sure.

I've tried to repair my game without my mods and deleted my localthumbcache but that didn't fix it. I'm not sure how else to repeal this policy as the sim who enacted it is long gone and the game doesn't list the global policy (Green Energy Rebate) when I try to consult/repeal one. I've yet to test this out with a vanilla save but I'm doubtful that this would work.

Oddly enough, it got sorted out randomly by simply logging back into the game after a few hours? However, I did encounter its return and found a fix for it again.

    1. Download TwistedMexican's ALL Cheats Mod
    2. Load up the game and have a sim in the conservationist career. If you don't have one, make sure to cheat them up so that they are in the position to enact/repeal global policies.

    3. Type in: loot.apply_to_sim Career_Conservationist_Energy_GreenEnergy_Start (this is just an example for the Green Energy Rebate Policy)

    4. Type in: loot.apply_to_sim Career_Conservationist_RepealRegulation_GreenEnergy (once again, just an example for the same policy)

This will enact the policy then repeal it. If you need a list of the cheats for the policies then have a look at https://twistedmexi.com/Cheats/

Make sure to click the filter for Island Living and scroll until you see the cheats under Loot.

I hope this makes sense and hope it helps!!

  • @puny808 There was a report for this before somewhere but there doesn't seem to be an official bug report.

Could you fill this out in the bug forum instead of here ? I can't just move cause the form won't be filled out if i do

I took a break from playing the game for a bit and then booted it up. All of a sudden the global policy has somehow repealed itself and I’m able to choose it and consult on it now as if it was never in effect? I did nothing different but just start up the game again, which is weird because when I was experiencing the bug, I restarted and repaired the the game many, MANY, times to no avail...

strange that this happened but I guess my problem is solved?

@puny808 Maybe cause you talked about it ?

Or maybe it just takes some time until the ones from dead ones are revoked automaticllay.

Guess if it's gone, all good :D

As long as the game is being developed it is good and nice to everyone to create a bug report for issues such as this, giving it a chance to be fixed. Once EA leaves the game behind the workarounds, such as cheats and mods, are great. 🙂
