CC fails to appear in TS4

I just bought the game, played it a while and installed some CC (correctly). I ticked the box to enable CC prior to installation and...nothing. I have no subfolders in my mod folder and everything is a package file. What I have noticed is that the game fails to make a resource.cfg. I've installed one that I have found online, but that hasn't helped at all.

  • Did all of the above to no cigar, but I finally found the issue.

Origin ended up overriding my paths with TS4. The mods folder ended up appearing alone in a randomly generated Sims4 folder in Documents which is held in my primary drive, an SSD, which I only use for my OS (Windows 10). I installed the game onto my HDD which I use for everything. So if anyone is having a similar issue to me, have a look to see if the install violated your pathing and dumped your mods folder into a default location that it shouldn't be in.

  • Can you try move out the whole mods folder, then restart the game to see if a new one is created and if it has the file ?

What resource.cfg did you find? What computer are you playing on? And to clarify, the game made no mods folder and no resource.cfg?

The game should have one on it's own by design - whenever you delete it the game is supposed to automatically generate a new one when you start up the game. Maybe it won't without a mods folder? I would try deleting the resource.cfg but leave the mods folder in the normal spot, then start up the game and check to see if a resource.cfg was generated into the folder.

I realize that may not be helpful yet, but I wanted to eliminate that as an option first just because I can't fathom why the game wouldn't have the resource.cfg file and I'm assuming that has something to do with the problem.

    What's your operating system ?

Did you try starting the game as administrator ?

The user files always get installed in Documents. So unless you re-direct your Windows doc folder to your other drive, that's where all user files (including mods) will be.

(unless I misunderstand what you're saying)
