[CD][PC] Pet won't die / has been dying for days

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Have pet (dog) die of old age
What happens when the bug occurs? dog begins to die of old age. Grim reaper shows up but then disappears within a few seconds. The dog remains lying on the ground "dying" for multiple in-game days. Unable to save game, and edit house because "a sim is dying" Notifications begin to appear that the dog is starving despite the fact that it is currently dying and cannot/will not move
What do you expect to see? when dog dies of old age, grim should appear and take pet resulting in pet's actual death
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure
Dog is still displayed as a living pet, sims cannot interact with dog because it is "dying", dog cannot / will not move and remains in place for multiple in-game days.
