Re: CURRENT ISSUE: many .package mods + cc not loading

Hello,

I’m writing to raise concerns about the recent update introducing the Sims Marketplace. Since the update went live, a large portion of the community has experienced major issues with mods and custom content, including Build/Buy items disappearing from the catalog and many long-standing mods breaking at once.

In addition to custom content problems, some gameplay functions also appear to be affected. For example, the Shift-click interaction menu used for debugging and troubleshooting in The Sims 4 does not appear to be functioning properly for many players after the update.

While the Sims community understands that updates can temporarily affect mods, the scale of disruption from this patch feels unusually large. The timing alongside the launch of a monetized Marketplace has also raised understandable concerns among players about the future of free custom content and the health of the modding ecosystem.

For many players, mods and custom content are not a minor feature — they are a core part of why we continue to support and play The Sims 4 after all these years. A thriving modding community has helped keep the game creative, innovative, and relevant.

We hope EA will prioritize fixes for the issues introduced in this update and continue to support open modding rather than unintentionally discouraging it.

The Sims community has always been passionate and loyal, and we hope that passion will continue to be respected moving forward.

Sincerely,
A concerned Sims player
