Please describe the patch or change you made. Downloaded cottage living.

I bought sims 4 a couple weeks ago after watching letsplays and build challenges for years. After a hard week at work I decided to treat myself to buying cottage living. I built a house, loaded up the game, and began to play. Issues began immediately. Had one of my sims plant a bunch of large planter plots and she was taking FOREVER on just one plot. I was there in three times speed for ten minutes watching her just stand there supposedly doing the task I had assigned according to her little queue thing. I was really confused so I went and checked on my other sim. She was talking to the welcome party. Or supposed to be I guess. Her queue said she was but no relationship gain or loss was happening. I figured maybe its just stuck, so I tried canceling the action and it wouldn't. Just straight up wouldn't. I tried getting her to head inside, and she refused to move. All the sims refused to move. Including the one in the garden and the guests at the welcoming party. I looked some things up online and tried to reset my sims. It worked for under a minute, only after saving and going to manage worlds, then loading it up, and resetting everyone, and then the same stuff kept happening. Tried to knit, and like before the task was taking way too long, there was zero xp gain, and her animation for knitting wasn't playing. On top of that I couldn't cancel the task or get her to move. Did some testing. Different lots, cities, sims, saves, still happened. After searching online for some time I deleted the cache. Didn't work, so I delete the entire sims 4 folder. Also didn't work. So after three hours I went ahead and completely deleted everything, uninstalled and reinstalled the game. Tested with a new sim. It worked for exactly ten minutes. I was so excited. And then it happened again. She was just trying to cook something and completely froze, got stuck and wasn't finishing the task or gaining xp. The whole nine yards. I'm at a loss. I don't know what to do. This is incredibly disappointing. I bought the game only for it to break right away and its a bummer, I've been wanting to get it for years.

  • @irietv I should add the time would be set back by a few hours everytime I went to manage worlds and then reset everything. Sims also would take a lot of time to seemingly process the task assigned before beginning(like four hours just standing there before starting).
  • @irietv  It sounds very much like the world itself is the issue, which was common when Cottage Living was released but not so much now.  It's worth repairing the game in Origin, if you haven't already.  First, clear Origin's cache:

    https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/

Then open your game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, and select repair.

If that doesn't help, try playing on a different lot in the same world.  Please also remove any lot traits, at least for now, so you're not getting any wild animals or other special features.  You can always add things back later, but at the moment I'm curious whether your issue can be isolated to any one thing in particular.

If you do see the same issue, please put the game in windowed mode, then open the Task Manager and let me know how much CPU and RAM are being used both by Sims 4 and by the system overall.  If Origin is eating resources, try playing with Origin in offline mode.
