Re: [READ FIRST] Cheat console doesn't open
I've been having trouble with ctrl + shift + c for over a month and I'm out of ideas on how to fix it so now I'm to beg for help.
Up until the end of March I was able to use the ctrl + shift + c shortcut and the window would appear for me to enable cheats and now I am no longer able to do so. Before this, there was an issue where I would have to do so three or four times for the window to appear but then I would face no further issues.
In saves where I enabled cheats before this issue, cheats are still enabled and still working. However, both in new and previous saves, ctrl + shift + c no longer works. It's as if I haven't done anything at all, there is no error message or glitch.
I have read previous posts on this forum, and have looked on youtube and TikTok for ways to solve this issue but nothing I have tried has made a difference.
I should also say that my keyboard seems to be working with the game. I can use my keys to exit the game, move the camera and take screenshots. It is only this specific combination I'm having issues with.
I'll list what I have tried below:
- Attempted other key combinations, such as ctrl + shift + windows button +c and using the shift and ctrl button on the left side of my keyboard.
- Reset my game settings.
- A complete factory reset of my game.
- Repaired the game through the EA App.
- Enabled and disabled the sticky keys feature in my laptop settings.
I'm worried it could be a pack causing this, as I've heard that the "For Rent" expansion back has caused issues in users games, so it would helpful to know if people have also had this issue after installing that specific pack.
I will also say that I play the Sims without any custom content or mods, I only have the base game and EA's packs and add-ons. I play on my laptop, which is a Lenovo, Intel Core i5.
I appreciate any tips or input, hopefully I can fix this or else I'll just have to get used to not using cheats T-T.
