That was actually the first thing I did, I even added a different TS4.exe file which I found in the Bin_LE to the exceptions, here's a screenshot

Hello All ,
please help my game is not launching from origin after I got the #November2020 update it completely broke my game . Whenever I press play I get the following message attached and I also got a new icon on top of my Sims4 shortcut icon also attached ... I’ve tried reinstalling , repairing , it can’t be the mods because I been moved all my mods out of the game . I reinstalled the game about 3 times . I don’t know what else to do . I even went to the user account control settings and made it so the message wouldn’t pop up but still no luck . Please help anyone .
- crinrict5 years agoHero+@TayloQT What happens if you turn controlled folder access off ? Have you tried that ?
@UniqueAmore Moved your post over to the correct thread on that. I assume pressing ok does nothing ?
Can you also try all the suggestion given on the first post of this thread ? - crinrict5 years agoHero+@TayloQT
Could you post your Computer's DxDiag?
- Press Windows-Key + R
- Type: DxDiag
- Click on Save all Information.
- Attach the Text File to your post
Also do you have any critical windows events for Sims or Origin ?https://crinrict.com/blog/2014/09/critical-events.html
Could you also describe your exact symptoms again here ?
(I know we already did troubleshooting but your posts are all over a this point so all info in one place is best. Also can't remember who posted what info yet)
Have to do some RL stuff. be back in a little while - 5 years ago
@crinrict mk, heres everything that has happened so far and what I've done
updated the game
emptied my mods, cache and saves(put them in a backup folder)
tried opening my game for the first time after the update then failed, with the "refusing to open and without error message" issue first occurring to me
came to the forums, posted my DxDiag, then had some info of which I spread
updated my drivers
tried opening the game again, failed
added the TS4(x64).exe to my exceptions
didn't work the first time i tried but at exactly 2:04am I tried again, it worked
later that day my windows updated
checked the next day and the issue came back
I had disabled my antivirus and tested it, failed
reinstalled my game, didn't work
and now we're here
here's my DxDiag like you just asked for
edit: I added the tadbit about the antivirus destabilization 14/11/2020 21:10
- crinrict5 years agoHero+@TayloQT Thanks. No critical events then ?
To be sure, you have admin rights on your Windows Account ?
Could you try these two extra steps
- Do a Windows System Scan: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929833/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system
- Create a new Windows User and try starting thte game from there. - 5 years ago
ok so i just tried to open it up in a other windows profile and it didn't open up sadly
- 5 years ago
for some reason the "sfc /runnow" just doesn't do anything xd

@TayloQT What did sfc say when the scan finished?
Your newest dxdiag lists some errors from a component of Avast, so it's still running or has been very recently. Please make sure it's completely disabled, not just closed out but not running at all.

@puzzlezaddict it didn't say anything, that's the problem, the command didn't work xd

Ok so i have just tested it out on my brother's laptop and the exact error occurred, here's his DxDiag
edit: imma just check out his antivirus real quick-
- 5 years ago
just checked out his antivirus, the sims 4 was set as a exception and yet still didn't open, same issue as all of us
- puzzlezaddict5 years agoHero+
@TayloQT It's often not enough to just set an exception in your antivirus software. That's why I suggested disabling it entirely. That's the only way to know for sure whether the antivirus is in fact the issue. If it is, then no amount of troubleshooting in other areas will help. So please disable the antivirus and test. Let me know whether the game works.
I can't read your brother's dxdiag because this site's virus scanner isn't working correctly. So if (and only if) disabling the antivirus doesn't help, please upload it to a third-party filesharing site and link it here. If you don't want to create an account, you can use pastebin.com.

@puzzlezaddict I actually have disabled my antivirus and tested it(prob should have added that to my list of info- i will in a sec lol) and it didn't work, that's where my assumption of that the antivirus program isn't in fact the issue as I've seen that people have added it to their excpeton, it worked but their pc updated later that day for it to no longer work
edit: here's the link to the DxDiag https://pastebin.com/d37h8PUR

@TayloQT Okay, this dxdiag has a pile of Nvidia software errors, so the best move is to uninstall and reinstall the driver. With a laptop, it's best to try the driver provided by the manufacturer first; while the one from Acer is a bit old, it may work fine, and if not, you can reinstall the newest driver from Nvidia later.
Since the Acer driver is older than the one currently installed, you'll need to do a clean uninstall first. Download Display Driver Uninstaller from here:
https://www.wagnardsoft.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3300
Download the Nvidia driver from Acer here:
https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/7983?b=1
Next, take your computer completely offline—disable wifi and/or pull the ethernet cord—and double-click the DDU.exe. Take note of where the file will land, and click Extract. If it's easier, you can copy the path and then paste it into the address bar in a File Explorer window. Open the folder and then launch Display Driver Uninstaller.exe, and you'll get a message that you're not in Safe Mode. Click OK, then go to Options and enable Safe Mode dialog. Here's a screenshot of what your options should look like; make sure the box in red is checked:
Close options, and the DDU, and then open the DDU.exe again. For launch options, choose "Safe Mode (Recommended)," and then click Reboot to Safe Mode (you'll need your password, so find it before rebooting). Once you login, you'll see this:
In the blue box, choose GPU, then Nvidia if it's not already showing. Then click Clean and Restart (red box).
Once your computer has rebooted, now back in normal mode, run the driver install .exe as an admin: right-click on the download and select "Run as administrator."
Restart again, and try to launch Sims 4. If it doesn't work, please let me know, and run another dxdiag as well.

@puzzlezaddict thnx, I won't be able to do it rn(going to sleep lol) but you'll get a response in roughly 12 to 14 hours
- crinrict5 years agoHero+@dadnwpg09 What security software are yo using ?
Are you using Windows 7, 8.1 or 10 ?
Any error messages ? - 5 years ago
My turn to let you know that my game isn't working and what I've done.
When opening the game "User Account Control" opens and asks if I want to allow this app from an unknown publisher to make changes to your device? It's for TS4_x64.exe
I choose yes and it brings me back to the origin app and unhighlights the play button for Sims again.
I have taken out all mods, trays, and saves. I have repaired the game, I have restarted the computer and uninstalled and reinstalled my entire Sims 4 collection and I am still getting the same thing.
Spoke with someone already and they suggested I turn off my UAC which I didn't feel comfortable doing but did anyways, restarted the computer and it did the exact same thing as before. Now I'm back here. I even tried to 'Run as Administrator" and it didn't work, the same window pops upSpoke to EA on the phone and they suggested I do this...
Please follow the below steps :
1. Open the Start menu by clicking the Windows icon in the bottom left of your screen.
2. Type MSConfig in the search box and press Enter. This will bring up the System Configuration window.
3. Click on the Services tab.
4. Check the box to Hide all Microsoft Services, then click the Disable all button to the right.
5. turn off Origin Client Service & Origin Web Helper Service" then restart PC.
DID ALL THAT AND THE SAME THINGHELP
- crinrict5 years agoHero+@RobynLaveau Did you try all the suggestion on the first post here too ?
What security software are you using ? - 5 years ago@crinrict I have disabled my virus protection - the same thing. I have also updated all my drives. I can send you my diag thing with all the info but I don't know how to get it
