So the first time I went into the game after the update, I was able to get it to load but I was having the furniture problem where I couldn't place anything, so I went to exit and repair my game after that. It took forever to "repair" and then I couldn't open the game at all. It allows me to press play and I wait for hours for it to open and it doesn't. So I came to this post from researching how to fix this, and I'm going to be honest. I don't know how to check my antivirus, idk what mine even is. Nor do I know how to input those exceptions things that were mentioned. I did the run as an administrator and it didn't work, also I did the turn off Origin In-game. Honestly, I'm a college student so my time is limited to fix this mess.
I forgot to add that after I first tried to repair my game, every time I restart/load up my computer and open origin, it always starts repairing my TS4. Every single time. and that takes hours to finish!

@coffeebeans20 For the repairing issue, try clearing Origin's cache, restarting your computer, and repairing one more time.

If Origin still tries to repair every time you open it, disable automatic game updates: hover over your username, select Application Settings, and under Application (the first header), scroll down to Client update and disable auto game updates. Then clear Origin's cache again and restart; hopefully Origin won't try to auto-repair anymore.
The issue with placing items is usually due to an outdated mod, one that can't be mentioned on this forum but is made by Basemental. So try removing that, and if it doesn't help, move your entire Mods folder to your desktop and delete localthumbcache.package.
You should be able to see your antivirus running in the Task Manager, usually under background tasks.
@coffeebeans20 The Task Manager lists background processes underneath the currently running processes and above the Windows processes. I think you need to be in detailed view (click More Details or something) to see the complete list.
So if you restart your computer, open Origin, and don't have automatic game updates enabled, Origin still tries to repair or verify files? That's odd. What happens if you put Origin in offline mode: does the game become playable?
