EA app not opening my sims game in correct location

Hi everyone

Up until yesterday lunch time, I had my Sims game + expansion packs downloaded through the EA app but saved into a location on my external hard drive. The location of the games file when I originally downloaded this was set to this location through the app also.

not sure what happened, it was working fine yesterday morning then I closed and went to play later in the day and it appears that my game is now automatically saving into my C drive on computer instead of the external hard drive.

i have moved my save file and mods to a seperate place, uninstalled and reinstalled back to the external hard drive numerous times and every time I then load the game it automatically saves again to my C drive and it’s driving me nuts.

i need it all on my external drive due to the amount of mods I have and more space available and has worked fine up until now.

please help!

  • @epiercejones21x  Sims 4 will always look for the user folder in Documents > Electronic Arts, and it will create a new folder there if one doesn't already exist.  Since you wouldn't want to move all of Documents to your external drive (Windows would react badly should the drive be disconnected), the best option here is to create a symbolic link to tell the game where to find its folder.  Here's how:

Make sure you're creating the symlink in exactly the location where the game is currently creating the new Sims 4 folder.  You can see the full file path by right-clicking the folder and selecting Properties > General; the Location is the path you're going to use.
