    This method worked for me: Go up to top left hand corner, click go offline, then click go online and it fixed for me.

I'm also having this issue, yesterday I was playing the game with mods and now this and no toggling to offline did NOT work for me. I just got off work and only wanted to play the Sims 4 but instead dealing with this!!! 😞
