Each screen freezing on me

So I have not played Sims4 in about a year due to a busy home life with two young children. I've been missing it so I went to start it back up again yesterday and have been very frustrated since. It starts loading, then freezes. If I hit the windows button on my laptop then go back into the game, the next loading screen is up, but then it freezes, too. Each loading screen does this. Then when it finally opens, each click in the game causes the same issue: it freezes and won't go to the next screen until I click the windows button then go back into the game. Any ideas on what is going on? I don't have any CC. I already uninstalled and reinstalled. I am at a loss and so frustrated :-(

    Contacted EA support in chat and they had me clear my Origin cache (most of which I was able to do but some of it kept telling me it was running elsewhere even though my task manager shows nothing else running). That did not help. Now I am in chat with another rep. UGH!

    I'm about ready to give up. Next person on EA told me I had corrupted saved files. I thought that odd since I don't currently have any save files on Sims4, but I did as he requested in an email and still no change. I don't get it. I can't play a decent game while having to hit the windows button after every single click. I am so fed up with this!

    Yes Origin is fine. I just can't get the game to work right. Downloading the drivers update stuff now.

    Thank you thank you thank you! That is what worked! After 48 hours of fighting and looking EVERYWHERE (including TWO EA people) that's all I needed to do. I really appreciate it!

    It's doing it again :-( Everything has been working great since the day it fixed, then one day I load and it has gone back to square one...I uninstalled and reinstalled and nothing. *sigh*

    in game options (when game first opens) at the very bottom click box "run in lap top mode" this will turn down graphics to low some details will suffer but will be playable if that dosent work try finding a game booster (IObit has a good one cheap) good luck (btw i run lap top too)

    Did you get any CC in the meantime? You can try the laptop mode suggested above me. 
    Also turning off programs before starting the game might help. 

    If you want to run a program, like suggested above my reply, I would suggest Razer Cortex, which is free. 

    If nothing helps, would you mind uploading a new DxDiag?
