Error 0x000007b The Sims 4 - PLEASE HELP

Hi!

Today I picked up my (pretty old, it runs on Windows 7) gaming laptop to play some Sims, haven’t played since October. Updated the game as it prompted (also bought the most recent expansion pack and installed it), and rebooted my computer also as prompted.

No matter all the fixes I’ve tried; repairing the game, running both Origin and The Sims 4 as admin, uninstalling and reinstalling all C++, checked for DirectX updates (it’s up to date), ran a chkdsk.. probably more that I’ve forgot about, having worked on this for 16+ hours now.. I’ve tried everything but nothing seems to be working and I’m so incredibly heartbroken..

Hope my saviour is out there with a magical fix! Thanks in advance <3

@jdanieIsson  Uninstalling Origin won't remove your account data, which is stored on EA servers.  As soon as you reinstall Origin, you can login to your existing account and have access to all your content.

When you say you run Sims 4 "the right click way," do you mean you normally manually run it as an admin?  If so, please try not doing so; if you don't run it as an admin, please try it.

@puzzlezaddict Okay! None of my game saves will be affected either right?

That’s right! Sorry about not being up on the lingo - language barrier and lack of technical knowledge. I’ll try running it normally - which I used to before this error. After the error I’ve been trying - both manually and not - running as admin as well as not at all. However, I’ll try it all again tomorrow after the reinstall!

May it have anything to do with updating my game (and installing the latest expansion pack) recently? It got stuck for a while but seemed fine when it (Origin) prompted me to restart my computer.. Or are you sure it’s a Windows/Origin problem rather than a Sims problem?

    Thanks again!

@jdanieIsson  I'm not sure that it's a Windows or Origin problem rather than a Sims 4 problem.  But the error you described references a component of Origin, and you also provided an Origin error, so that's the place to start.

Your saves won't be affected by uninstalling and reinstalling Origin either.  They shouldn't be affected if you uninstall Sims 4, but sometimes their folder gets deleted.  In any case, it's always good to have a backup, because you never know when you might need it.  Saves are stored in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\saves.
