Was the pregnant sim of that household individually borking it up for the whole file or just that household?
Here is my experience:
-Started up the game post patch. Mods/CC was disabled. All was working fine, I enabled mods/cc and restarted it. I made a specific save for that hour (today) and kept it away from my past saves on that playfile. That way if anything screwed up, I could still have the backups worse comes to worst.
-Tried to play a household, and 102 popped up, so I shut down the game, removed a good chunk of my mods (but not as much the cc) and did it again. At this point, I could edit households once the limit was enough (I had to have it on unlimited cause I had a TON of sims on that file).
-Pulled it up again. Made a seperate save again, and purged a TON of sims to try and get to the 200 mark. I got so, and still couldn't play a household.
-I looked online and saw the select-and-load-workaround, and used that on the Initial File I made today. It worked. I tried to do it on the post-purge file, and it did not work. I select/loaded on an old file pre-patched and it worked.
It is only the recent Post-Purge-Sim-Deletion file that is not working for me. Both other files with cc work, just not that one. I do have one or two pregnant sims roaming around. But none that I know are pregnant were deleted in the Purge, and were still around in the Initial-Post-Patch file.
As of right now, I don't have any consistent problems with the glitch, other than that one specific file. But, I can't seem to figure out what is causing it to glitch out. It's not cc, as the 2 other files that worked had cc on and worked. It's not pregnancy, cause I know at least one of the other files had a pregnant woman post-patch initialization. My only concern is that without knowing what the issue is and if the Select/Load workaround is actually consistently reliable, I don't feel quite safe playing my game in fear of losing progress.
I don't think it's cc because in my trials, it did work even with cc in play. So, I'm not sure what to do, but figure posting my experience should help someone, hopefully.
