Factory reset

When putting back your save files after doing a factory reset should you put back your old scratch file or leave the newly generated one and should you also put back your old auto save file? Sorry I am a bit confused as I usually just copy and paste the whole of the old save folder when I have done it before?

There's no need to delete either of those on a regular basis.

The scratch folder has probably be filled with new content by now anyways and if you played the game, the auto-saved was replaced with a newer version as sell, so no worries.

I would just delete the localthumb for now and see how it goes.

I never delete any of my files myself but I regularly. start a new game, not because it goes bad but if I wanna play with new families.
