first sim does not save

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? none
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Create the very first sim in the game
What happens when the bug occurs? I just got the game and I'm trying to create my first family and I created my first sim along with 5 others. Once I chose a world my first sim's traits didn't save. I went to the dresser to try and change it again and I click on summer clothes (cause that was what my sim was wearing before I saved it) and all my traits come back and then I click the check mark and it doesn't save again.
What do you expect to see? I want to be able to save my first sims traits.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

    I'm jumping in just to make sure you understand this fully.

    These are the categories your Sim needs outfits in. They are not categories you choose from to pick just 1 outfit from.

    Your Sim needs one (or more) outfit(s):

    Everyday: for every day, their normal outfit(s)

    Formal: for events that need formal attire

    Athletic: for when they work out

    Sleep: for when they go to bed
    Party: an nice outfit for parties

    Swimwear: a bathing suit to swim in
    Hot weather: for when it's hot outside and they need something a bit shorter than normal

    Cold weater: for when it's cold outside and they don't want to freeze to death. 

    You need to pick one or more outfits in these categories. Your Sim wil automatically switch between the outfit they need. So if you'd sent your current Sim to the pool they'll switch from what they are wearing in to swimwear by themselves, you don't have to do this for them.

    The closet is to pick something new, if the outfits you currently have don't fit your Sims style any more or if they just need a new look.

    To add, what you see happening on that picture at the end when you hit the check mark. Your Sims are wearing all everyday outfits, that's how it's intended to be. If you want them to wear something different you'll have to select that outfit in everyday.

    It just looks like you're trying to change clothes (not "traits") and don't know how.

    Create-a-sim mode is where you create outfits, like everyday and hot-weather clothing. It doesn't matter which one you're looking at when you press the tick and exit create-a-sim mode.

    To have your sim change into a particular outfit, you just click on a dresser or on your sim and choose "Change Outfit" and pick the one you want from the window the pops up showing previews.

    but the hair and such won't save either.

    If you're choosing a styled look, you need to pick a color. You just opened the preview window in your video and didn't actually pick anything.

    The Sim needs to change to that outfit before you press the ok button

    Well in an effort to try to fix the problem, I ended up deleting sims and origin entirely and then re-downloading them. But now none of the physical changes I've made to the sims will save. 

    Also, I exited the game and when I hit the exit button, a message popped up with a warning of something along the lines of "the game is currently in a state where it cannot save" or something like that. Could that affect anything?

    Which outfit category are those sims currently wearing ? Did you maybe create a second outfit for the same category ?

    three of them are wearing hot weather (the first one I changed the dress but kept the rest of the hot weather outfit, the other two I didn't change at all), two of them are wearing athletic which I did not change anything about it, and one of them is wearing a formal outfit which I also didn't change anything about. I keep trying to recreate them and what I have noticed is that the changes I make to their face, rest of their body, and their personalities and names will all save, but their outfits and hair will not.

    Oh my gosh this makes total sense and this was super helpful! You are literally the best! Wow I probably seem super stupid lol I apologize I just got this game so thank you all for being super patient with me! 🙂
