I was having this issue to. I had gone 5 months without playing, decided I missed sims 4 and wanted to purchase the GTW and Spa ep 2 days ago. For some reason my Sims 4 wouldn't even let me click play, it was all greyed out when I got to the play screen. Had to chat with EA about it through live chat and she was not much help. My first issue was when the game updated, it acted like it was installing my base game all over again. When I went to look at my games in origin it had download by sims 4 and I was like wth is going on, none of my games showed up cept for the base game. So...I had to download and wait for it all over again. Then when I purchased GTW and the Spa ep it said I needed the base game to play. So, talk about confusing. Finally after installing and hitting play, the dang screen wouldn't load past the plumb bomb, finally figured out it was one custom content not letting me load. A pair of eyebrows lol..I assumed it was a mod so I did the process of elimination scenario by dividing cc in folders and putting them in a few at a time. Then after 9 tries I found the horrid eyebrow culprit. So...finally got into my game to find all my sims were blue. I guess another fab glitch from the update not allowing us to use our cc skins. So after fiddling around with my family I got to play, only for my already pregnant sim to give birth but no baby appeared. I am guessing that was to do with the fact I had a baby mod that came with skin and hair so...obviously the game couldn't process the information thanks to the lovely update..
Only to get worse from there...Sent my sim into the science career, I joined her at her work place, but when it was time to go home, I got the dreaded world map everyone is talking about. I kept trying to go to my household but the lovely loop to loop of the world map kept happening. Anyways, I got tired and frustrated and decided to give it another bash this morning. To my surprise I got my game to work and no more world map..
This is what I did...
Went to my saves, moved them into a back up save folder on my desktop. Ran the game and hit play, made a random sim, chose the house for him to move into and voila! it worked, no more world. Now...don't be sad. Exit the game without saving, go to your save folder and delete the new save, then go back to your desktop and move your save files back into the sims 4 save folder. Load your game, and go to your world, click your household and hold your breath as your family loads and then you can faint as you see your house appear with your family intact. ❤️
It works, it is annoying because I exited my game this afternoon and when I went back to play, the world map kept looping again so I had to move the save files again and repeat what I did with making a sim in cas, then loaded him into a house and exited the game without saving. It is annoying as heck but at least this way you get to keep playing and keep your family 🙂
NOTE: Also I did remove my outdated mods and replaced them with the ones for this newest patch or the last patch..can't remember but they do work. And I also noticed that some of my custom skin is showing up in CAS. So I am well and truly happy, and I can deal with this until EA fix the looping world map glitch 😞 Come on EA, we payed a lot of $$ for these games. We need some fixes so we can get back to our Sims addiction :eahigh_file:
