Flashing Blue Icon with Loading Circle? Can't Play My Sims

Okay so recently I bought the sims 4 cats and dogs expansion and ever since or maybe even since the update (as I haven't attempted to play until today), my game refuses to work. Edit world mode works...

I've tried every troubleshooting option and if I manage to try playing the household. The house is empty and there are no sims in the household. I am at my wit's end and I need to know what is going on. All other households are affected too.
