Game crashing
Hello Everyone! I have had the sims 4 since early December of 2015, And I love the game so much! I don't play without cc, so some of you may not be able to help me! Anyway, My game has started freezi...
I'm pretty sure I set it, but I didn't have the last option so I made it high performance NVIDIA graphics card. Hopefully it will work. If not, I will ask again. thank you!
It worked for about 4 minutes without freezing, and that was a step up. When I brought my sims back from the Romance Festival, my game froze yet again. I forgot to mention it also takes about 10 minutes for my game to fully load to the point where I can click on my household and play. If you need any more screenshots please feel free to let me know, I would send anything to get my game to work again ☹️
Could you start a new game for testing purposes to find out if that works ? Best is to test everything without cc/mods for now.
I have done that yesterday, but I will try again. Ive tried mod conflict detector and it just pops up as a small white box and you have to click okay 15-20 times until it closes, I'm going to try and re download it and see if I have any broken cc or tray folder items
Found out I had some broken/corrupted files. I re downloaded the new version of them, Hopefully that will make my game better. Not sure yet
it still freezes, now only for a few seconds. Its still quite annoying, but its MUCH better than what it was before.
Maybe you still have some files that aren't updated.
The 50/50 Method explained here: http://modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Finding_Problem_Custom_Content is the fastest way to find out which ones.
Not sure that I can do that since I have custom stuff in-game like housing cc, and if I were to remove it, the house would be different. I'm just going to continue looking at my files with MCD and see what I can delete.
EDIT: still getting major lagging/freezing. I went into game under my current household, and I froze about 3-4 times in 20 minutes. Then I went into CAS and froze about 3 times in 20 minutes. CAS seems to be less lagging freezing than my current household, but its getting to the point where I just want to quit sims all together even though that's my fav game. I have tried literally everything, Changing settings, removing cc, 50 50 method, checking for corrupted files, updating game, repairing game. NO THING works.
Let's try this way: Reset your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199
You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files and make a backup.
Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). Play for awhile to see if you have the freezing still.
If you don't, put back your save games (make a copy) and try again (yes, some stuff will be removed but as it's only a backup of your save, you should be fine putting stuff back later.
Then report back with the result before adding anything else back.
I tried moving my sims 4 folder to my desktop and It tells me the folder is open in another program. The sims 4 and origin are not loaded, so I don't know why it says that. My laptop is 100% capable of running sims, actually, when I purchased the PC, I was told that there will be NO issue of running the sims. So, That leads me to believe it IS infact custom content, or one of my folders is not working properly. When I searched my folders, I did infact find that my "cache" folder was empty. I'm not sure if that's normal. In my sims 4 folder, I found that I have two files called "Reticulated Splines" and I deleted them, and re loaded my game. When I exited my game, the files were back in the folder.
Hi @slyytherinn
did you restart your computer as well when you got this message ?
It's perfectly normal that the cache folder is empty and those files recreate.
Yes, I did restart my computer. Okay, glad that's normal. I'm just so fed up with this. I just wanna be able to play the sims.
I just tried repairing my game yet again and it did NOT work. I'm so absoloutely fed up with this
I'm sorry that we don't seem to get anywhere.
So you're still getting that message ?
Try deleting your Origin cache or repair the game by right clicking on the game on the Origin client.
Do you have other Origin games ? Do they still work ?
Sorry I have not updated on whats going on. my game has now started freezing every 15-20 minutes, Which I do NOT mind at all. I also do not have any other origin games other than the sims 3 which I never use.
So it stopped crashing and you also don't have the Origin error anymore ?
Does only your long played save game lag or others too ?
I don't remember ever having an origin error.. I don't normally stick with my families too long but ive had this one for a few months. When I got city living is about the time it started and I don't know that it is cc related because I download 10-40 pieces of cc a day.
Do you require further help with this ?
My game started freezing yet again. Just about to quit altogether. Its so annoying that I cant play a game that I have payed for. I payed for ALL the expansion packs, everything.
Yes, but if you're not willing to try without any downloads and play for a while that way to make sure it's not an outdated one, there's not much I can help you with.
There are lags issues in this game that get worse the longer you play a game but it could be a custom content you're using and those are not supported by EA.
I understand that custom content is not supported by EA, but I prefer to use it, because the items that EA has are awful. I have tried almost everything you have recommended, and nothing works. I have tried without any downloads the other day, and I get the same issue.
And it doesn't have anything to do with my gaming PC because I can run the other games I have perfectly.
I Took out my mods folder for the 30th time and my game is somewhat quicker, but it still freezes. so, Basically, it isn't my Mods that's causing the freezing. Then we go back to the game. And I'm not sure how I would fix something that has to do with my game.
As I'm away next week, I can't help you further but I see if someone else can continue helping you
Thanks, @crinrict.
Hi @slyytherinn,
Let's make all the tests from now on with a clean user folder, ok? Just to try to find the issue, we can move your save games and other content later.
Please, follow these steps:
Is the issue still happening? If so, try to lower the game settings. Any changes?
-Mai
I did everything you said, but when I went into game my 200 sims were all gone. I will be EXTREMELY upset if they are all gone forever.
Hi @slyytherinn,
Please, don't worry, your save games are in 'The Sims 4 freezing' folder, and they will remain there safe for now. It's very important you don't delete this folder.
We just want to use a new clean user folder to test your game, that's why we are trying in a folder without your save games. There might be an issue with any of your files in that folder, so we are going to do some tests to find out if that's the case.
When you created a new save game in step 4 of my previous post, and you played for a while, did the game work as it should?
-Mai
I renamed the sims 4 folder to "Sims 4 freezing" and I haven't removed It, I'm not sure if I'm supposed to remove it or if I am supposed to keep it there, but I am moving it to my desktop as we speak.
I'm starting a new saved game also. right now.
