Game Tries To Install Itself When I Try To Update

When I try to install the required update for my Sims 4, I get the message: "Downloading The Sims 4 indicates you agree to the following terms of play:", lists various user agreements and then talks about the privacy & cookie policy. when I've updated the game previously, I've just clicked 'update' and then it has updated. I don't know if this new response to clicking 'update' is normal and is just a response to an EA app update, or if it's saying that it wants to completely re-install The Sims 4, subsequently wiping all of my saved game progress. "Downloading The Sims 4" seems to be saying that it wants to completely re-download the whole game and not just a new update. I've had this issue for about 6 months and have been at my wit's end going back and forth with EA Help. My problem could be as simple as 'I just need to click 'continue', and then my game will update and I can get back to my sims, who I greatly miss! My priority is not losing my saved progress. Has anyone else had this show up, and if you pressed 'continue' (as opposed to 'cancel'), what happened?

Your saved games are all in your documents directory. Only files in your Program files are being changed in the Update.

Your saved games are all in your documents directory. Only files in your Program files are being changed in the Update.

Oh my gosh, thank you. I've been so scared and stressed about this that I've been putting off coming back on here and just doing anything relating to the Sims 4! My main fear is that it was going to replace all of those files in my computer. I really miss my sims though and their stories. I will go ahead and just update the game, and if my game gets wiped, I will avoid the sims 4 for 2 years or so and grieve for a family of little video game characters!
