I've seen this happen with outdated mods as well as recolors. Do you have any cc or mods? If so move your Mods folder to the desktop and see if that resolves the problem.
If it does, you will need to try a few items at a time to find what is causing the issue, then, see if that cc or mod has been updated.

@DarkAmaranth1966 I do not use CC or Mods of any kind. I don't even know where the mods folder is but I assume the folder wouldn't have anything to do with it if I have never used it.

No, it should be empty. it's in Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods.
Have you tried right clicking the game in Origin and choosing repair.
This was an issue a while back but, was fixed in a patch.

@DarkAmaranth1966 Yes I repaired the game then logged out and logged back in still doing the same thing.
