@pdent Did you upate the graphics card driver? You may need to add that card to the games graphics database. Please post your computer's dxdiag - dxdiag then attach the txt file to the paper clip in the lower right of the forum's response window.
Hiya, sorry I didn't see that someone had replied to my post. I've attached my dxdiag. Thanks for your help!
I updated all my drivers when I first booted up my PC, so everything is up to date.

@pdent This game checks which graphics chip you have and sets itself accordingly.. Here is a link to add unknown gpus - how to add unknown gpu to Sims 4 The method has changed in 2020 but it looks like it once you do it have to search for the .sgr files anymore. I haven't had to do it since the change - no money for graphics upgrade. There is a link that explains the ConfigOverride folder. The ConfigOverride folder may be empty the first time and you will have to copy the sgr files for the gmae core files. Just was reading about the no fade on everything mod that might interest you.
add: bumping is frowned upon in these forums - if you want a reply tag that person and they sguld get an email. I try to reply as soon as I read the email but I get a lot of emails and sometimes it takes me awhile to get back. BTW - computer looks like the one I'm thinking of replacing my gaming rig as it's about that time.Try updating Windows
