Help, why is sims4 so dark????

Why is this one room in my house so dark??? It is driving me crazy!  I've looked around and some people say that the game was made that way (Which I find hard to believe because it looks AWFUL) an...

    It looks like the game is not recognizing the space as a room, and thus an interior space in which it would use interior lighting.  It is using exterior lighting.  I would advise using the custom room tool to redraw the room.

In case anyone has this problem, I went online and saw someone say to ensure that your roof is on properly,  Lo and behold , I had a gap in a room I extended.  Placing a roof over that area lit up my dark areas immediately.
