Okay, then let's try resetting the game files to factory settings! You won't loose anything 🙂
- Make a backup; copy your The Sims 4-folder from C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts to an external drive or somewhere else on your computer, for example your desktop.
- Rename the The Sims 4-folder in C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts to The Sims 4_backup
- Start the game, make a new save, and see if the error is gone.
(The game will have created a new The Sims 4-folder in your documents, this is supposed to happen)- If yes, continue
- If no, post a reply telling us the error is still there
- Start putting folders back in the new The Sims 4-folder. Observe! After every file/folder, start the game and make sure it still works, before putting in the next one.
- Options.ini - your game settings
- Saves - your old saves. The sub-folders are not needed. If putting these back causes problem, try putting one back at a time.
- Screenshots
- Custom music - if you have any
- Tray - your library objects; like lots, rooms and sims
- Mods - your mods and cc, might cause problems when putting back
If putting back one of the folders was problematic and you did not work it out, please post a reply and we'll see if we can find what your problem is!

Good Luck! 🙂
Also, you can activate the cheat testingcheats true, right-click on your sim and skip the current task 🙂
- Anonymous8 years agoThat’s not working as I am unable to right click on my sim. Do you just hit the right mouse button?

Oh sorry, I mean shift-click!
If that still does not work, what happens if you cheat-promote your sim, will you still have to do the same thing?careers.promote detective
- Anonymous8 years agoYeah
- Anonymous8 years agoIt doesn’t show with shift click

Okey.. Well it seems like something with your save is corrupt, If you have any mods that could have triggered it, but sometimes the game just glitches out. What happens if you roll back to an earlier save?
- Anonymous8 years agoThe farthest save that I can revert to is version 0 which still has the requirement

Too bad. I mean it's great that we got it to work on other saves, but it's hard / impossible to fix a corrupt save game. Do you have many families and such in the world? What you could do is save the households and lots to your library, and open them in a new world. You might have to cheat some things like promotions and relationships with sims outside of the household, but it might work? Try just moving the sim that is having the problem, and then if you want to, you can move all others.
- Anonymous8 years agoI’ll probably do that then. I’m tired of troubleshooting this game.

I understand that! They should create a cheat or something that makes the career requirements done! ☹️
Good luck with your new save, should not cause any problems like this now hen we've cleaned your files!
