- Navigate to this folder: programs(x86)\Origin_Games\thesims4\game\bin (path may vary depending on your installation)
- there you see a file called ts4 or ts4.exe.
- Right click on that file and choose Send To .. Desktop
- This will create a short called ts4.exe on your desktop
- You can then rename the shortcut on the desktop by clicking on it until the text is highlighted.

Notice that if you use a 64bit version of Windows you can instead create a shortcut to ts4_x64.exe. This can improve performance. Notice that if you have less than 4GB of RAM (very unlikely) you should run the 32 bit version (ts4.exe) regardless of if Windows is 64bit.

Hi, when I do that a window pops up saying there's a system error. It says that Core/Activation64.dll is missing from my computer.

And it works if you start it through Origin ?

I can't find this file, programs(x86)\Origin_Games\thesims4\game\bin .

It is not a file but a folder and you are probably looking for C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 4\Game\Bin unless you play on a Mac.

I understand your Sims4 icon on the desktop stopped works after the Legacy patch.
One question: is your system 64 bits or 32- bits?
I have a 64-bit system and the patch forced me to download Legacy Edition although I didn't need it.
Of course, the icon on the desktop stopped work after it.
So if you have a 64-bit Windows system:
Go to the Origin/My games Library. Right-click on TS4 and select properties or game data. (My version of Origin is not in English so I don't know what the equivalent of this term is for you)
Then select advanced startup options. Change from 32 bit to 64 bit there
Then fix the game in Origin:
Once more right-click on TS4 select the option "repair game"
The first time launch the game from Origin - not from the desktop icon
If your system is 32- bits
Open Program Filles(x86) / Origin Games/ The Sims 4/Games/ Bin LE and right-click TS4_x32.exe. Select "Sent to desktop"
I don't work for EA
- 6 years ago@crinrict Hi, I’m in the Bin folder and I do not see any ts4.exe file. I have a Core folder, Python Folder, and a res folder. I’m so lost!
- kreatora6 years agoHero (Retired)
You should have the same in the Bin folder
- 6 years ago
I don’t have any of those things except the three folders. My shortcut was just randomly deleted and I don’t have to run the legacy edition. This is madness, lol.

@Tropical1ce If you're trying to make a desktop shortcut, please open these folders in succession:
Program Files(x86) > Origin Games > The Sims 4 > Game > Bin
Then right-click on the TS4_x64.exe inside the Bin folder, and select Send to > Desktop.
If you're trying to do something else, please describe what that is and where you're stuck. If you don't see TS4_x64.exe, please take a screenshot of what you do see and attach it to a post.
