It may be your antivirus, firewall or proxy blocking the access to the game to your internet connection. Please, make sure your antivirus and firewall have TS4.exe and TS4_x64.exe as exceptions and that you are not using any proxy.

Unfortunately, that did not help. I tried disabling my antivirus and firewall, I also had no proxies to begin with, and it's still doing the stupid cannot connect thing.
- Has it never worked fine for you or did it start working wrong after a patch? If so, I would try to repair the game.
