I lost my all CC after moving the files from OneDrive and putting them on my PC

So, I have basically no knowledge of computers, but I managed to download The Sims 4 a few months ago and since then I've never encountered any problems. I had a friend who played, so she taught me how to download mods to make the game cooler.

But I didn't know that these mods were being uploaded to OneDrive automatically. So, when my storage was full, I looked for solutions on how to remove them from the one drive without deleting them from my computer. I saw a lot of people saying that the solution was just to remove the files from within OneDrive before getting automatic backup to stop and unlink the account from the device. I did that, and at first there didn't seem to be anything wrong, my The Sims files were just on the computer instead of on OneDrive. Then I tried to open TS4 and all my saves and cc were gone, but they're still on my computer???

Like, I'm still very confused as to how this could happen if all my files are still here, right in front of me!!! like, I open the windows files and they're right there. I've seen a few situations similar to mine around here, but almost all of them seem to have the same solution of turning off automatic synchronization and unlinking the account from the device. But I've done both of those things!!! So I really don't know what else to do in this situation. My TS4 saves and sims mean a lot to me as TS4 is the only game that can keep me focused and calm, so having them is very therapeutic for me.

Does anyone know how to make The Sims 4 recognize the files on my computer???

  • You need to remove Documents from the OneDrive settings

    See this Microsoft article -> https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/how-do-i-remove-desktop-and-document-folders-from/3c8fda22-70ab-4aae-849d-a9f47a793c21

    The Procedure should be;

    1. Right click OneDrive icon in the System Tray.

    2. Select "Settings"

    3. Select the "Backup" tab.

    4. Click the "Manage backup" button.

    5. Select "Stop Backup" for the folders you want to move out of OneDrive (Documents, Pictures,..).

    Then on the folder select properties
    Click on the Location Tab
    Click on "Restore Default"
    The process will restore the default user location to C:\Users\User and remove the OneDrive path

    You can continued to use OneDrive but you will need to individually select the folders you want to back up from the account tab in OneDrive settings.
