I downloaded The Sims 4 game time last night, I was excited to try the game out, I went & clicked play today, it took me to a redeem product key screen & said I couldn't play till I activate the product code/key. It does state game time has not started. I have played create a Sim, it says I've played CAS for 9 hours, that doesn't seem right to me. It also says I've played today, which I haven't cause I didn't get to play & I haven't used CAS today either.

When you start downloading the Sims 4 Game Time, the time limit starts if I am not mistaken. It is a continous time limit. If you have a bad internet connection that takes awhile for things to download, it is tough luck for you.
Or the time limit may start when you launch the game... I don't remember. I believe when you start downloading the game time, the time limit starts.

@Colton147 The Game Time starts from the moment you first run the game,not the moment when you first download the game
same thing happening here,asking for product key saying it cant activate game time despite 48hrs on the clock

The Exact same thing has happened to me.
In regards to the other post, it shouldn't matter about how long it takes to download, you're ment to get 48 hours free play. So unless it's taken 48 hours to download I couldn't see this being the issue, and I think it's rather unfair if they count game time from when you activated the download as you are not actually playing the game at this point.
I downloaded mine over night, and I came to play it today, I have the same messages come up and it to says I need to use a product key and that I've used the game time already on this computer and account. I can't for the life of me think when or what I used it on!
If you get an answer please let me know, so hopefully I can fix my issue to.

Thank you Hailie, an advisor fixed it for me on Live Chat, go through the options & then you just have to wait for a chat session to start, the advisor I had was very helpful.

"Wait Time: under 5 minutes"
I wait over 20 min, I don't know, but my 'chat now' option is always off.
So for those who have same problem, I guess all must wait... 24 hours 4 days ago 😕mileyhappy:

Apparently it's a bug and lots of people are experiencing the same problem. Customer service had no idea how long it will take to fix.

People say the activation key is on Origin but I swear I searched everywhere and cannot find it. If anyone knows when or if it'll be fixed please say so because I have been wanting to play this game before it even came out plus I also need to know if it'll work on my laptop.

Plus origin has said my Game Time hasn't started but it says:
Time Played: 25 hours
