Insane glitching/game freezing-stops responding

hiya, since the official EA Help has ignore me for a very long time now since sending them the problem-form I'll go here.

I've been working on a Super Sim and ever since the new Main Menu update every 2 in-game seconds the game lags on Normal Speed, Fast Speed it does the same, Ultra Speed it freezes completely and the game stops responding resulting in me having force the game to end via Task Manager.

My husband (who build my gaming desktop) checked everything, updated/upgraded whatever possible, ran every log-check thinkable and my computer is fully capable of running Sims 4 without lag. In the game we've played around with graphics settings, repairing the game multiple times (deleting caches etc...), tested vanilla (no mods/cc), tested with mods/cc (no difference in the hick-ups), I've taken out all saves except for my Super Sim save (no difference). I've even gone as far as deleting the majority of traits my Sim has collected by now (she's maxed all skills & aspirations, currently working on all university degrees & plan to follow that with all careers; aging is turned off, only have this single Sim living in a micro-home, nothing in the inventory other than a homework book). With deleting the majority of her traits I've been able to get rid of the lag hick-ups on Normal Speed, but there's no change on the other 2 speeds (game won't even hit the Super speed it should do when the Sim is gone from the house!!!).

It seems to be linked to the Main Menu update (I've tested the theory on my laptop too: a standard Lenovo laptop with the same save, mods & cc. Without the new Main Menu update there's no lag/glitching at at, I updated the game there, went back into the save and the glitching appeared). Any ideas on what else to do to get my game back to normal? Desktop is completely over-qualified to play Sims 4 even with all the mods/cc installed (takes less than 10 seconds on each loading screen, including initial start-up and going into CAS, my laptop is normally mod/cc-free and since I've updated that one also has the damn lag-glitch).

@107531kop What do you mean updated that one to? Have you tried playing the game in the off line mode? Are you running the Steam version?

I usually play Sims 4 on my desktop so the laptop isn't really updated as often (and I keep it so that it doesn't automatically update), that was why I could still play it in the version with the older Main Menu style. With the old Main Menu look it didn't lag or glitch at all, that only started after I updated the Sims 4 version on my laptop to the current game-version with the new Main Menu... Offline playing doesn't change anything (problem stays) and I'm strictly Origin with Sims...

@107531kop  Do you have Neighborhood Stories enabled, and if so, does it help to disable progression for everyone, both played and unplayed?  Additionally, as an experiment, try moving your sim to a lot in one of the base game worlds, and don't give the lot any lot traits.

If that doesn't help either, try selling any bonus items your sim has, as well as any large collections of items, both placed in the house and within inventory.  (You could just move and choose "sell furniture" so you don't need to deal with the extra items already placed.)  You can use "save as" to rename the save, so the original remains intact; please do quit and reload to see whether anything has changed.

@puzzlezaddict Neighbourhood Nightmare is disabled for everyone (usually use MCCC for that, but even without MCCC installed the glitching was there)... Sim lives in Newcrest in a micro-home with no additional lot traits (I've even swapped the tiny residential for normal residential lot type, no change even after a repair in between)... Sim only has a university homework book in her inventory, household inventory is empty, there are no collections present at all and the Sim lives with minimum necessities (the tiny-living tv/bookshelf/stereo, 1 counter, 1 chair, a loft-bed with desk with laptop underneath, stove & fridge, sink, loo, uni-shower, mirror, the archeology table, a few curtains and 2 or 3 small plants, nothing else). The fridge & stove only get used if needed for skill-building or work-tasks (I permanently play with the Disable Need Decay cheat, I've tried without the cheat but the lag/glitching got even worse)... I've already tested three times with save as (even moving one of those new saves to my laptop and tested it there pre-new Main Menu update and again after doing the update on my laptop)... pre-update on the laptop (even the original save) didn't glitch/lag at all, after the Main Menu update the glitching started... ran repairs, deleted cache-files etc in between each test (took me a couple days to go through all the trouble-shooting I did)... I'm convinced it has something to do with the new Main Menu since the trouble only started after I installed that particular update both on my desktop & laptop...

@107531kop  As a test, please save your sim to your in-game library and place them in a new save.  If you see the same issue, try playing a new save in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, launch the game to create a new folder, and just run a new save for a few minutes to make sure the game is working properly.  Then you can transfer the Tray files from your saved sim—they'll all have the same timestamp, matching when you saved the sim to the library—to the new Sims 4 folder, and you'll be able to place your sim in a new save in that folder as well.

I'm not suggesting you necessarily need to abandon this save, just that this can help narrow things down.  And I understand that this happened after an update, but it can't be only about the update itself or we'd be seeing a lot more posts describing the same issue.

@puzzlezaddict already tried that, both on my desktop & laptop, no change... some of my other saves have the same problem so it's definitely linked to the Main Menu-update... I've also been asking around and it seems there are more people with this particular problem, one of them dabbles in modding and agreed to see if she could make a mod that fixes it... I guess I'll be playing on Normal speed with occasional glitching until then...
