Is Paid Origin Access required?

My son has The SIMS 4 on a disc. We successfully used the disc code to download it last year and have added some extras via Origin. Today my son has tried to log on as normal but Origin says:

" Your Origin Access membership has expired."

I tried to go and renew it but the only thing I can see is asking me to pay $7 a month to get access to a whole bunch of games. I DO NOT WANT access to a whole bunch o f games I ONLY want my son to be able to access and play The SIMS 4, that I purchased for him.

Please tell me I don't have to pay $7 a month to access a game tat I already paid $80 for!

    Hi @latiasknight ,

    The account where you redeemed your The Sims 4 disc code is the same where you had an Origin Access subscription that expired, right?

    Origin Access membership allows you to upgrade your 'The Sims 4' game and play with some extras included with the Origin Access subscription. We can revert this upgrade so your son goes back to the version of the game you own - no Origin Access required. Keep in mind he will lose access to those extras and some items will get removed from his game.

    To revert the game to the version you own:

    1. Open Origin and log in into the account
    2. Find 'The Sims 4' game in your Game Library. Right click on it and select 'Uninstall'.
    3. You should get the following message, select 'Revert Game edition':

    If you receive a different message: please, cancel the uninstallation of the game and let me know.

    Once you revert the game edition to the one you purchased, you should be able to open and play the game again.
