Issue with graphics since update 21/09/2024
I've just updated my game for the new update and purchased the two new kits, I've gone to load up my game and suddenly it looks like this?
At first I thought it could be a graphics card issue even though I've never had an issue running Sims 4, but I've checked with other games I have and they work perfectly fine without any issue or weird sketchy look to the graphics....
I'm not sure whether this is a typical bug thing or something from the update or kits, I don't want to be out of pocket and buy a new laptop just for the sims if it is (my laptop has an integrated graphics card)
Does anyone know what the issue could be and whether I can do anything to sort it? I've already repaired and cleared the cache
@ThunderLeaff Your dxdiag lists some generic Windows update errors, so please start with a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:
- Hit Windows key-X
- Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
- Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
- The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
- After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
- Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
- Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
- Post the message you receive here
Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates. If any install, restart again afterwards.
For the issue itself, your graphics driver is from 2018, and I would be completely unsurprised if it were incompatible with the DirectX 11 version of Sims 4. You can get the newest-available driver from AMD here:
Run the installer as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator." Restart your computer after installing and before trying to play.
If you get the same issue, please switch to DirectX 9 mode, as described in the post I linked earlier, and let me know whether it helps.
