Loading household just loads the world map

Hi, this is the first time I've had to post on here as I really need help with the issue I am having. I would appreciate if someone could help me solve this.

My laptop needed repairing at the store so before I sent it off, I saved my Sims and everything on there onto a Hard Disk Drive, I got my laptop back yesterday and they repaired it so I connected the Hard Disk Drive to my laptop and transferred all of my Sims data back onto my laptop.

Ever since, when I load my Sims household, it takes me to the World Map.

I have tried the 50/50 method to check if it's any of the mods, I took half of the mod folders out and tried, it still had a problem then I removed the ones I tested and tried with the ones I took out, the issue kept happening. So both the first half of my mods and the second half of my mods are corrupted but I am not sure which ones.

I have just tried to remove the whole of the mods folder out of the game and the game loads perfectly with Sims not having hair as mods are not included. So it is clearly a mod problem.

I am really struggling to find an easy way to see which mods/cc files are corrupt and have been trying to sort it out all day with no luck.

I have got the Sims 4 Mod Conflict Detector and many are marked as light blue which shows conflict OR game modifier but the majority of them highlighted, I've used previously with no problems and I watched a YT video which stated that if it's light blue then it's not a problem and they work fine. (I will attach a screenshot below)

Due to me having to transfer my Sims data from the HDD to my laptop, it makes it even more difficult to find out which are corrupt as it does not give me the date when I downloaded the mods/cc as it gives me the date when I transferred them to the laptop which was yesterday.

Does anyone know an easier way to find corrupt mods? Or have a solution to the loading household issue where it just loads to the World Map instead of my lot.

Okay so I’ve finally figured it out and found a solution after spending so much time updating all of my script mods and testing which ones work and don’t work, using the 50/50 method.

I found that the cause of the problem when loading a household and it bouncing me back to the World Map was due to script mod. The reason why the script mod was causing this issue is because it could not find my GameVersion.txt file as I accidentally deleted it from ‘The Sims 4’ folder in Documents\Electronic Arts.

Once I added the GameVersion.txt file back into the folder, it loaded successfully. 🙂

@KashmirG2002 It's possible that your mods were corrupted by being moved to the external drive and back again. It shouldn't happen, but sometimes it does. If that's the case, you'll need to download new copies of all the mods.

On the other hand, it might be simpler than that. Can you load a different household within the same save, or do you get bounced back to the World Map no matter which household you try? If you can load a different household, try playing that one for a couple sim-hours and then switch back to your original household. You don't need to save your progress, or if you want, you can use "save as" to rename the save, which will generate a new save file and keep your existing one intact in the same state it was before you saved the new copy.

@puzzlezaddict Hi, thank you for replying to my post.

Oh gosh, if I was to download new copies of all the mods it would literally take forever lol!

I will try to load a different household and see if I get bounced back to the World Map, I think I did try this earlier and was still being bounced back to the World Map but will try again now and let you know, fingers crossed this will work.

@puzzlezaddict I just checked and yes, it is still bouncing back to the World Map when I try to play an NPC household on a different lot. I have attached an image of what comes up when I try to load my household and other households up.

@KashmirG2002 It may in fact be that your mods are corrupted. Try adding one mod to a clean user data folder and see what happens. Move your entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, then launch the game to create a clean folder. Enable custom content and script mods, then you can quit. Take one of the mods you transferred to your new computer, preferably one that's not highlighted in blue in your screenshot (although I'm not sure it'll make a difference), and add it to the Mods folder. Then see whether you can start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.

If you can play, copy over your save and see whether it loads as well. Since you're copying and pasting rather than dragging and dropping, you can freely experiment on the new copy of the save without worrying about the effects of having your mods removed on the original copy. If you can play a new save with a given mod in place but your existing save still bounces to the world screen, let me know.

If you add one mod and even a new save won't load, take that mod out and try a different one. But if you test three or four mods and they're all corrupted, the likelihood is that all of your mods are corrupted, and downloading new ones may be the only option.

@puzzlezaddict Hi, so I've just experimented with a new save after creating a clean folder and added a Slice Of Life Mod to the new clean folder as I use that mod a lot. It loaded successfully so I copied my existing save to the clean folder and that loaded successfully too with the mod without bouncing back to the World Map. So it may be another mod that is an issue or maybe I just needed a clean Sims 4 folder?

Luckily this means the mods aren't all corrupted so should I try to add all of the mods into the new clean folder and see if it loads successfully? If it doesn't then maybe I should try to add my mods one by one to see which is corrupted?

@KashmirG2002 That's good news, and yes, it's possible you only needed a clean folder. You can add all your mods back as an experiment, and it's possible they'll all work. If they don't though, try the 50/50 method: in this case, remove half the mods and test; if they're fine, add back half the ones you removed and test. If your save stops working again, remove half the ones you just added and test again. This is a lot faster than adding mods back individually or in small groups, although of course you can test that way instead if you're more comfortable.

Little late but im having the same issue and i have the game file in my folder so im confused on what else would be the issue with script mods
