Is there an old save in the load menu of your game?
Yes there is one. Should I select recover save?

@nassieri Yes, recover the save, but first, make a backup of your saves folder (in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4). It's a good idea to back up this folder periodically: if something ever happens to your saves or your computer in general, you won't lose everything. Use either an external drive or USB stick or a free cloud storage service like Google Drive or Dropbox.

@puzzlezaddict thanks for your answer. I tried to recover from the 5 versions I have available in the recover list but unfortunately my sims and buildings are still missing.

@nassieri Try loading the backups in a clean Sims 4 folder. Move your entire folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts, launch the game to create a clean folder, quit, and move the saves (regular and backup) into that folder. (Saves go in the saves folder.) Don't add any other content; just see whether your sims and buildings show up in any of the saves.
