Missing Options / Cannot Click or Use Items

I've recently downloaded and started playing The Sims 4, but it seems I'm already having issues and I've already tried repairing the game via Steam or searching for answers online.

Problem 1: Missing Options

There are tasks for my Sims to complete, but the option is never available to do them, such as taking a picture through their phone or using a camera. I can't even click on a camera to have them take photos. Another big one is that one of my Sims works from home and has no other options on the computer other than "play games" or "browse the web" while the other Sim needs to work on her writing aspirations and has no options to do that either.

Problem 2:

There are objects I can't click on, like the indoor trash can. My Sims get uncomfortable, but there's no way to empty it unless I sell it and buy a new one. There are objects that I can't click on that I used to be able to, such as the bath I just bought. Just a couple days ago I could have my Sims take baths, and now I can't even click on it.

Another miscellaneous thing is that my Sims ALWAYS use the bathroom sink to clean up rather than the kitchen sink that is right in front of them.

I just bought the base game a couple months ago and started playing more consistently recently. I don't have any packs or mods - just the bare bones of the base game. I'm getting increasingly frustrated because I can't progress or do much of anything except cook, send one Sim to work, bathe, and sleep. Any help would be very appreciated as I haven't been able to find any answers after hours of searching online.
