Moving the game to a different hard drive

If I uninstall my Sims 4 game and Origin from my computer and then reinstall it, but put it on a different hard drive (from Disk C to Disk D) will that count as a new download. As I heard you can have your game on up to 5 different computer, so what I'm wondering is, will the Origin recognize my D disk as a new computer.

I share the game with some friends and I'm not exactly sure on how many computer the game is already on and I don't want to loose it and pay for a new copy.
The reason I wanna move it between disk is, that my C disk I running low on storage so the game is getting laggier and laggier... 😞

  • If you uninstall it, it doesn't count anymore.

Sharing your account is not allowed though and can get you in trouble, especially if your friends do something bad with your account. YOU will be responsible.

  • So if right now the game is on 5 computers and I uninstall it, it will then be on only 4 and I will be able to install it again?

Also we share one account just for the Sims and use our personal ones for other games, we should be fine.

Basically yes, but sharing is not allowed in any way.

    Ps.

You don't have to redownload the content to move it to another harddrive. You can have games spread all over all the harddrives you want.

How to move your game to another harddrive in Origin:

    1. Save your game backup from "Origin Games\GAME_NAME" somewhere else
    2. Uninstall your game in Origin
    3. Change game installation location in Origin's settings to your new location
    4. Start the game download in the new directory for 2 minutes
    5. Exit Origin
    6. Copy the backup over the to the new directory, overwriting all files
    7. Start Origin again
    8. Look at Origin verifying the files, setting up the changes in the registry and downloading the last couple of files
