My Garden is Broken

I'm not sure if this belongs in this category or not, but here we go:

The past couple times I've had a sim garden (throughout the last 2 months real time), the first 2 or so plants grow and produce perfectly fine, even if 1 or both are spliced. When I take some dragonfruit from the spliced plant, the plant itself grows perfectly. I can evolve it and take care of it. However, they never produce fruit. Sometimes if I move them into the household inventory and replace them in the planter boxes a few of them will bear fruit once or twice.

The only forum posts on this issue anywhere are from the Sims 3 which hasn't helped me. I've started fresh saves with no cc or script mods to test if they still work, but it's still broken. Has anyone else had this issue?

    @RinnyChii

I know that if you get the plants from build/buy using debug that some of them never bear fruit, but I've never heard of plats only bearing fruit a few times. I've never seen this in my game.

Just to be clear, you harvested dragonfruit from a plant, planted it yourself and it never bears fruit?

Maybe try resetting your user files if you have some cache disrupting the game?

    • Make a backup; copy your The Sims 4-folder from C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts to an external drive or somewhere else on your computer, for example your desktop.
    • Rename the The Sims 4-folder in C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts to The Sims 4_backup
    • Repair the game. Right-click the game in your Origin library and choose repair.
    • Start the game, make a new save, and see if the error is gone.
(The game will have created a new The Sims 4-folder in your documents, this is supposed to happen)
      • If yes, continue
      • If no, post a reply telling us the error is still there
    • Start putting folders back in the new The Sims 4-folder. Observe! After every file/folder, start the game and make sure it still works, before putting in the next one.
      • Options.ini - your game settings
      • Saves - your old saves. The sub-folders are not needed. If putting these back causes problem, try putting one back at a time.
      • Screenshots
      • Custom music - if you have any
      • Tray - your library objects; like lots, rooms and sims
      • Mods - your mods and cc, might cause problems when putting back

    Good Luck! 🙂

  • Thank you for the info!

I actually played some more today before checking the post and half of them bear fruit first, and then the other half bear fruit. It's a bit odd, but hey, at least it's working a little! 🙂
