my resource.cgf file isn’t in my mods folder

my resource.cgf file is gone and it’s not on my computer anywhere. should i just create a new one myself?

  • @savf77  Please download a new copy of one mod or custom content item that is confirmed to work with the newest patch.  Unzip it if necessary, put it next to the resource.cfg in the same folder, and see whether it shows up in-game.  Let me know either way.

  • @savf77  It's better to let the game create a new resource.cfg.  Move your Mods folder to the desktop, launch the game, make sure mods and custom content are enabled, and when you quit, you should have a new Mods folder with a new resource.cfg inside.  You can add your existing mods to that folder.

  • @savf77  Are you saying you don't have a resource.cfg, or that your mods and cc aren't working?  If you don't have a resource.cfg, please double-check the file path to the Mods folder you're opening.  You should be looking in C:\Users\your username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4, but you may be looking at the OneDrive equivalent instead.  The game reads the folder on your hard drive, not in OneDrive.

  • @savf77  Where are you looking for resource.cfg?  Please let me know the exact file path to the Mods folder where you expect to see it.

And make sure you've enabled mods and custom content in the game options, and that the setting is sticking after you select it.
