My sim can't fully record videos on the video station

So, I have this one sim (he's a kid) who can't record videos on the video station. He records to a point and then just stops, with no video being made. His mother, who lives in the same household, can do it just fine. I've tried moving him into another household, but it's same problem. Other kids can record with no problem so it doesn't seem age-related, it's just him? I had this problem with him months ago, I got angry and stopped playing on that household. I came back now to see if it had gotten better since I've updated the game a few times but nope. Any thoughts??

Oh and I should maybe mention that I have mods and cc in my game.
