My The Sims 4 game reset itself

I haven’t played the game in quite some time and today when I opened it everything was gone and I only had the “Start a new world” option as if I’ve never played it before. My saves folder is empty, ...

@idk55555 Malwarebytes found two different potentially unwanted programs (virus-like programs) and some adware. For the PUPs, the Malwarebytes scan should have been sufficient to remove them completely, but I'd still run another scan just to be thorough. When running it, make sure that no other apps are open, not even a browser.

For the adware, if you're using Chrome, I'd suggest following this guide, specifically the "how to remove malware" section, to make sure it's no longer affecting Chrome:

You likely don't need to reset your browser settings, but that would be the next step if you can't get rid of the adware.

@idk55555 Is OneDrive running on this computer (whether you use it or not), and if so, do you see any Sims 4-related files in OneDrive's version of Documents?

You can also search your computer for your missing saves. Open a File Explorer window, click This PC in the left panel, and enter Slot_ in the search field in the upper-right corner. If there are any saves elsewhere on your computer, this should turn them up. If you find one, select it and click the "Open file location" menu button, and you'll jump to where that save is, and hopefully where all your other files are too.

In either case, you can move the files back to the relevant folders within Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, and the game should read them.
