Need help with CAS full edits on relationships

I am very much in need of a fresh save, but It seems like the CAS full edit for relationships is almost completely not functional. I can edit relationships for only some sims but not others.

I would like to use the CAS full edit mode to fix the family tree, but the fact that I can't make any of the other households recognize each other in the family tree is really frustrating.

I'm wondering if there is anyway to get the CAS full edit more fully functioning again for relationships, as it was still working properly very recently.

  • I managed to resolve this by scrapping my already set up new save and completely changing how the households were set up by starting with the oldest generations and working down the family line by adding family members in groups of 2-4 (As I read on another thread here that households over 5 are subject to not being able to edit the relationships even with null relationship data),

I wasn't able to fix the lack of being able to set some sims as the parent, and no in world sims edit properly.

Thank you for your help with this issue, and for adding it to the bug list.

  • What kind of relationships are you not able to fix ?

I don't know what determines if you can edit them or no.

Maybe a picture of what you can't edit would help ?

You can only edit pairs where no values have been previously selected (if the relationship data is null). Once the values have been set and the family data has been updated, the values cannot be changed. This was EA's solution to the 'everyone is my sister after full edit' problem.

Funny enough I was able to fix someone's family tree nevertheless though so there must be other factors involved.

  • Thank you for the responses.

To expand on what I meant, I have a household in Newcrest that are the grandparents to three households in willow creek, and the parents of one household in Windenburg. A few weeks ago I used the CAS full edit mode cheat to fix the household in Windenburg (The windenburg household had broken off the family tree some time ago) by adding the daughter the the grandparents house and just editing her relationship with her parents.

I had hoped to repeat this process by transferring the kids (now adults) of the newcrest household back into ti, and using CAS full edit to set their relationship status back to parent/child and repeating the process for their kids.

Edit: After testing I can edit the relationship of two sims (the mother and daughter) but I cannot set them to mother and daughter regardless of the age setting.

It could be that the cheat is no longer allowing that.

If you want you can upload your save somewhere and PM me the link

If you were able to fix trees then I'm adding a new bug report since the current version clearly does not allow updating of pre-existing relationships. It's easy to determine that it only allows adding of new relationships.

@Linamints You can set the relationships for full households if you're creating a new family. The editing problem only occurs with existing families which are edited with the 'cas.fulleditmode' enabled after they've already been saved. If you create a new file and transfer your families into the gallery you should have no problems with editing of households with eight sims.
