New Laptop for Sims 4
Hi all, Was hoping to get a new laptop as The Sims isn't running as smoothly as I'd like. Attached below are some options and would love some feedback! https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-FX505DY-R5...
@gtwdee An Nvidia 1050 is significantly slower than a 1650, and while both will currently run Sims 4 (all packs included) on ultra graphics settings, the 1650 would give you much more of a margin to account for the likely higher demands of future packs. So while the 1050 is cheaper, I personally would spend the extra to get the faster card.
I saw a few different options in the £700 range that are all very similar, other than their total storage. Aside from the 1650, these have 8 GB memory and similar processors. For reference, an AMD Ryzen 5 3550H is marginally weaker (maybe 1-2%) than an i5-9300H, but it depends to a large degree on the benchmark. Sims 4 would run fine on either of these CPUs.
This is the same Asus I linked before, with a 512 GB SSD, and a 3550H, for £700 and £730 on two different sites, in case you have a buying preference or a coupon or something:
This Acer is £730 and has a 9300H and a combination 256 GB SSD/1 TB HDD, in case you really want a lot of storage:
If you really like the Lenovo, this one is £750 and has a 9300H and a 256 GB SSD. That's not a lot of storage, but it'll be enough for Sims 4, your user data, plus all the small apps (browsers, Spotify, etc.) you want.
The only other equivalent option I saw under £800 is this MSI, for £770, with the same hardware as the Lenovo:
If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.
Apologies for the delay in writing back! I think the Home Asus TUF Gaming Ryzen 5-3550H 8GB 512GB SSD GeForce GTX 1650 4GB 15.6 Inch Windows 10 Gaming Laptop seems the best with the 512GB SSD, unfortunately, it's out of stock at the moment and that site had it for the cheapest so I'll wait and see does it come back in over the next day or two otherwise I'll have another look around!
Thanks so much for your help!!
@gtwdee Honestly, I think £730 is still a great price for the Asus with the 512 GB SSD. If you're hoping for a further discount, I'd check the two sites that do have it:
https://www.box.co.uk/FX505DT-AL087T-ASUS-FX505DT-AL087T_2791825.html
very closely, and buy it from one site if the other's price goes up or they run out of stock. But you might get lucky and see the other one come back in before that happens.
At any rate, there are always at least a few similar options around, so you should be able to find something. Let me know if you need any more help.
Definitely going to keep an eye!! The Box.co.uk site I was looking at, they were giving the option to deliver to Ireland yesterday but don't seem to be today, and Very.co.uk doesn't deliver here. But definitely going to watch that Box.co.uk one like a hawk and have emailed LaptopDirect.ie in hopes that it comes back in!
Thanks so much!
@gtwdee Someone else asked the same question today, with about the same budget as you, so I looked again just to make sure there wasn't anything that had gone on sale. I saw the same Asus on three other sites, at least one of which does deliver to Ireland.

I got conflicting information about the other two sites, but it should be easy for you to check:
